Perfection is a wish that yearns for ruin
of the static that comes with the risk of edges
So we shapeshift and makeshift outside of ourselves
To cautiously make sense of what’s changing within
We fear the uncharted so we structure our worlds
in fixed shapes we can name and pray it holds
Yet we’re fascinated by the nature of what transforms
and instinctively moves us to let up and behold
Perfection is a moment perpetually brief,
of surrender and acceptance
that what can wilt, crumble, and fall
is what makes movement and imperfection
the essence and beauty of being;
flowing, alive, and capacious
of sitting through winter to be of spring
