In Prelude to a Soul, JM Saycon expands his sculptural language through a quiet yet evocative interplay of form, symbolism, and material. Rendered in the artist’s usual monochromatic palette, his marble-like figures, intricately paired with meticulously sculpted aluminum foil, possess an arresting delicacy that blurs the boundary between permanence and fragility.

This new body of work introduces horses and clocks, motifs that deepen Saycon’s contemplative vocabulary. The horse evokes instinct, momentum, and untamed aspiration, while the clock reflects the unseen cadence of memory, transformation, and the passage of existence. Together, these emblems become meditations on the invisible forces that shape the inner self, suggesting that every journey of the spirit unfolds within the quiet rhythm of time.

Exquisitely detailed and restrained in color, Saycon’s masterpieces invite prolonged observation. The refined surfaces conceal emotional depth, allowing silence to become as expressive as gesture. Each composition serves as a threshold between the tangible and the imagined, where beauty is ornamental and contemplative. The exhibition implores the viewer to linger before stillness, to witness the subtle awakening of consciousness, where material, metaphor, and memory converge in a poetic exploration of what lies beneath the visible.
