As mankind carries a profound experience on lockdowns and restrictions, visual artist, Konan Lim, traverses the concept of confinement and introduces a different perspective toward certain enclosures in his solo exhibition.
"Shallow Box" explores the psychological metamorphosis of the square space from a limited and secluded room to a place of whim and rekindled joy. Konan’s subjects depict a sense of solace, overcoming the fear of being isolated, and realizing serenity in respective situations. The artist draws reference from Philippine culture by integrating familiar elements of local clothing, accessories, and flora. The juxtaposition of these dreamlike details highlights the innate charm of humanity's resilience.
Konan and his artworks enchant the surreal, and emanate a harmonious balance of beauty and bizarre, similar to how Konan values the solidarity between passive strength and internal quietude.
